First, a word about these MP3 files

As you can probably imagine:

I HATE DATA REDUCTION ALGORITHMS !!!!

But as long as we're not all connected to 100 Mb/s links, we unfortunately have to use them if we don't want to go mad and wreck a mouse every week.

By respect to the band's copyrights, I've decided not to offer the songs in their entire version, but rather some fairly large excerpts so you can get a good artistic idea as well as a technical one concerning the sound. I've tried to respect the original signal as much as I could, by testing several encoders, and by keeping the best version of each excerpt.

I chose the 128 kb/s, "joint stereo" format, as the best compromise between quality and patience (160 kb/s on the latest updates).

Evidently, the following effects are not artistical ones brought during the production of the albums, but are side-effects due to the encoding itself : shifting stereo position of instruments / metallic sound on cymbals and guitars / metallic sounding reverbs also...

We'll soon have to build ourselves a "mental decoder", able to sort out what the producer wanted and what the encoder brought in, because the future is alas very dark for all the audio purists out there. It seems to me that the third millenium shall be. If it shall be mystical or not, I could care less, but one things for sure : it will be entropical !!!
